Descriptions

Today we have a colourful 10,000 NFT collection, eventually to be living on the Ethereum blockchain. The collection features over 300 slick hand-drawn traits. As a result, Hug Ducks will become a highly diverse series of unique collectibles/pfps.
The collection features a small sprinkling of utility. However, this is limited and the collection should primarily be viewed as a collectible project, purchased for the artwork alone.

Bold, vibrant and pop art style aesthetics.

Who is Behind the Project

Unfortunately, we don’t have a doxxed identity of the founder behind the project, or of any of the team for that matter. This is a nicely assembled little project, but with projects like this, you should be very careful and only mint to a burner wallet.

Team Members

  • Vince – Founder
  • Linus – Chief Planner
  • Grace – Chief Designer
  • Sally – Designer
  • Edwin – Developer
  • Locke – Developer
  • Lydia – Artist
  • MetaC – Chief Marketing Officer

Sadly, none of the team is doxxed or has any links to any social profiles. But the team is reported to have backgrounds in branding, design, crypto and computer engineering.

About The Collection

The collection prides itself on it’s vibrant and highly varied pop art style ducks. Each duck and all of the 300+ possible traits are hand-drawn, ensuring the highest level of detail possible. Hug Ducks can have varying hair, beaks, masks, glasses, costumes and much more. There is sure to be a Hug Duck for everyone out of the 10,000 NFTs set to be minted.

In addition, the team has some extra little touches added to the project, such as merchandise and possible IRL meet ups/networking events planned. More on the Road Map section below.

Road Map

The road map is very brief and offers limited information as well as a lack of set dates.

Dr. Vince

After the initial mint. the truth about Hug Ducks and the project’s founder, Dr. Vince will be revealed.

Merch

Hug Ducks are planning to collaborate with other artists in order to develop high-quality clothing, stickers and other forms of merchandise, available to Hug Duck holders.

Spark

The team has decided to invest 20% of the revenue into advanced web3 and Metaverse technologies (whatever that means). The project will also be moving into the Metaverse, with the plan to be decided by the Hug Duck community.

Offline Activities

Little information exists on this at the moment, but the idea is that eventually the team will plan real world meet ups/networking events.

Music

The Hug Duck team wishes to invade the art and music industry to tell their story. (This is all they say on this topic).

This is pretty much the gist of the road map. You can see the full version here.

Socials

  • Twitter – 5.6k followers | Joined January 2022 – Medium twitter account made for the project. Tweets get bad engagement and there are a lack of tweets being made considering how long the account has been active. Some collabs and partnerships.
  • Discord – 5.5k Members | 900 online – Verification and rule acceptance on entry. No commands, bots are above regular Discord users. No shilling channels. Chat moves along fairly slowly, but there is conversation going on.
  • Instagram – 991 Followers | 16 posts – Good previews of some of the artwork to come. Semi-regular posts, but the individual posts are lacking engagement.

Smart Contract

The Smart Contract is not yet available for review.

Price & Mint Date

Currently we do not know the price of the project, or whether it will be a cheaper pre-sale/public sale.

The mint date is currently unknown.

Conclusion

The project has some great artwork going for itself. It is very eye-catching and the variation in traits will be very interesting to see. I don’t think I have seen a duck pfp project executed as cleanly until Hug Duck came along.
The negatives of the project are the Road Map. I believe that the Road Map requires some work. At the end of the day, the artwork is good, so the team should either abandon the road map and focus on just the artwork, or alternatively, they could elaborate further on the points made in the Road Map. The social profiles, primarily the Twitter could use some work – the engagement is especially low and the team could be missing a trick here.

Overall, it is nice artwork but I am not sure about the Road Map. The team need to put in some work. Also, as this project is totally undoxxed and free of any accountability, if you do decide to mint it’s best if you use a burner wallet.
